“I am Astrid Fenton and I have a business called WSI – We Simplify the Internet. I own the local office and operate under licence from our Head Office in Toronto Canada and I am one of 1500 offices in 87 countries. When I was in Toronto in February 2008 I met a lot of fellow WSI office owners and when discussing lead generation strategies they all recommended joining BNI. When I got back to South Africa I found that there were several BNI chapters operating in the Durban area and I was fortunate enough to find that BNI The Incredibles had a vacancy for a Website Developer & Internet Marketer. I visited the chapter once, loved the people and had a really good feeling about it. I signed up immediately in order to lock out the competition. In my first year of operation, BNI has given me 33% of all my business! This has been critical to keeping me afloat in times of “recession”. I can only imagine that as I get better at networking and meeting more BNI members in other chapters, this number can only grow. I am here to stay!” – May 2009

“I am Sue Murphy and my business is called The H R Company. My company specializes in offering human resources services, with particular focus on employee development. I have been a member of BNI for 18 months. What I have found is that referrals that I have received from BNI over the months have taken on a life of their own, in that those companies I have been referred to by BNI members, have in turn led to a network of business that has continued to grow. For instance, one referral from a BNI member to a small company that required training for its employees enabled me to establish a great relationship with one particular trainer. This trainer has referred me to many of his clients, and because he is a really good trainer with established relationships with his client, they welcome his referrals, and are very open to doing business with me. And this was just from one lead! Over the months my client base has grown substantially and my BNI business has increased from about 5% to near 50% of my total business. I recommend trying networking, it’s an amazingly powerful tool.” – April 2009

“Since being new to Durban, BNI has been the perfect platform for me to meet new people and network to build connections that could enhance my business. Through BNI my number of clients has more than doubled and after a year of being a BNI member, I still receive about 80% of reliable new business from referrals through BNI.” – June 2009

“Thanks for your mail and in response would like to let you know how much BNI Membership – especially of “The “Incredibles” Chapter - has meant to us and our businesses:
- Three years ago my wife Trish and I were newcomers to the Durban area. Apart from a few relatives and long-time family friends, we knew practically no-one.
- Joining “The Incredibles” in mid-2007 immediately transformed our lives! Trish was in the throes of starting her (now well-recognised, but then unknown) Coffee News franchise. Instead of going door-to-door to canvass for advertisers and drop-points, Trish was now able to network with business and professional people from all over the city – what a difference! (That’s been on top of the great support she’s had from within our “home chapter”). Coffee News is, as I say, well known now.
- As regards my business on the other hand, I was initially skeptical about the benefits of BNI membership! I operate as an insurance underwriting manager; I do not deal directly with the public as we quote only to the trade (ie, to insurance brokers). Still, I not only joined but have persevered in membership and am now beginning to see the benefits in terms of referrals from members who give me the contact numbers of their insurance brokers. Once again – no “cold canvassing”!
- And, lastly, the intangible but absolutely real benefit of socialising regularly with quality people who have formed a strong nucleus of friends and acquaintances and have given us confidence in a strange town!
THANKS AGAIN” - May 2009

“We have been members of BNI “The Incredibles” since February 2009 and have enjoyed the fantastic vibe and camaraderie which prevails. We have already received many referrals and have written a number of policies.
What is enjoyable about BNI is everyone has the same goal which is the advancement of their business. Word of mouth referrals are far better than any other form of marketing and with the warm qualified leads we have received from BNI our conversion rate is excellent.” – May 2009
